Environment Canada issued a heat alert warning Monday afternoon for expected weather conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday in Toronto.
“Temperatures will climb to the the low 30s Tuesday and Wednesday with humidex values reaching 40 to 42,” the advisory reads. “There may be a few regions where the high temperatures and humidex will continue into Thursday.”

The agency is advising people to stay hydrated and avoid leaving people or pets in direct sunlight or parked cars.
Environment Canada issues a heat warning in two situations:
- When daytime temperatures are expected to hit 31 C or higher on two consecutive days, and nighttime temperatures are predicted to stay at 20 C or higher.
- When the humidex is expected to hit 40 C or higher for two consecutive days.
